Innovation Support and Technology Transfer
Innovative research findings and business marketing potentials need to be more closely converged. MFG stimulates cooperation between science and industry in a variety of network formats and can look back on a series of success stories linked to the commercialisation of research outcomes. Innovation support begins in the college years: MFG awards scholarships to students who succeed in bringing their own project ideas to life with a blend of creativity, innovation and dedication. We initiate programmes designed to encourage innovation in the IT and media areas by small and medium-sized enterprises in Baden-Württemberg. The establishment of research cooperations and the organisation of symposiums, notably in the field of software research, further underlines MFG’s proven expertise in research management.

Cluster and Network Management
In the globalised economy, clusters and networks are key elements when it comes to protecting and strengthening the economic advantages of regions and nations. Today, the majority of countries operate regional economic development programmes and endeavour to establish economic clusters. Professional cluster management is vital to their success. MFG has been committed to this aim in Baden-Württemberg for the past eleven years. In innovation circles and special interest groups as well as at network events we promote interdisciplinary cooperation and foster a systematic exchange of knowledge and ideas between research, industry and public administration. We currently support networks comprising 20,350 members. In addition, a database of service providers that can be accessed 24 hours a day contains 8,732 corporate contacts from the fields of e-business and information technology.

Regional Economic Development and Marketing
More than ever before, successful location development is today a question of identifying and mobilising innovative strengths. As one of Baden-Württemberg‘s most influential location developers, MFG brings together the region‘s most innovative players – scientific researchers and companies, commercial and business service providers and potential investors – at symposiums, industry forums, further education events and informal gatherings. Markets in the twenty-first century are increasingly global, which is why MFG enriches its regional management with international features and supports globalisation efforts in industry. With 11,183 participants in events, 23 million contacts in relevant target groups and 90,000 documented technology relations, MFG can once again look back on a dense network structure that inspired numerous new business contacts in 2006.
